GSM subscriber base reaches 733.14 million in September 2015, says COAI
According to industry body Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), 7.04 million GSM subscribers were added in September 2015. With this, the total GSM subscriber base in the country has reached 733.14 million. The GSM subscriber base at the end of August 2015 stood at 726.10 million.
COAI has further stated that Idea Cellular added the maximum number of subscribers with 2.63 million additions and its overall base increased to 166.56 million in September 2015. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel added 2.22 million subscribers and its user base increased to 235.21 million, whereas Vodafone India added 1.59 million customers and its overall base reached 188.17 million during the period.
Further, Aircel added 247,092 subscribers and Telenor added 231,527 users to their networks and their respective user bases stood at 83.99 million and 47.78 million. Videocon added 86,774 subscribers to take its subscriber base to 7.90 million while Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited (MTNL) added 10,591 customers and its user base stood at 3.51 million at the end of September 2015.
